Placeholder Page Case Study
Keen Design & Machining
A machine shop's holding page that works like a spec sheet: what the shop makes, the industries it supplies and how to reach it for a quote.
At a Glance
With more than 75 years of combined experience, Keen Design & Machining is a precision machine shop in Surrey, BC. Ahead of the shop's full redesign, we built a holding page that keeps it open for quotes: a headline, a short introduction to its services and the sectors it supplies, service labels, a coming-soon note and four contact details, with a light and dark mode toggle.

The Brief
A machine shop's customers come for quotes, not a countdown. So the page had to show what the shop does at a glance and make calling or emailing simple while the new site was finished.
- Make it clear the shop is open for business as usual while the new website is built.
- Show the full range of work, from CNC and manual machining to welding and fabrication.
- Name the sectors the shop supplies, so buyers in those industries recognize a fit.
- Put phone, email, location and hours together for anyone who needs a quote.
What We Designed
The page opens with the shop's KD mark and the headline Where Design Meets Precision. A short paragraph sets out the work, CNC and manual machining, custom design, prototyping, welding and fabrication, and the sectors it supplies: aerospace, automotive, marine, medical and industrial. Service labels follow, then a New Site Coming Soon note and four contact blocks headed Phone, Email, Location and Hours.
We kept the styling clean and technical to suit precision work. Outfit, a geometric sans-serif, and JetBrains Mono, a monospace drawn for code, give the type an engineered feel. The light theme is crisp white with near-black headings and dark slate text, and a toggle switches the page to a dark theme for anyone who prefers it.
Service labels
CNC machining, manual machining, design, prototyping, and welding and fabrication, listed together under the introduction.
Four contact blocks
Phone, email, location and weekday hours, each under its own heading, so getting a quote takes one call or email.
Light and dark mode
One click swaps the crisp white theme for a dark version of the same page.
How We Achieved It
The copy states that the shop is open for business as usual and will get right back with a quote, which keeps the page practical rather than promotional. Its Surrey unit address and Monday to Friday hours sit in plain view, and the page title spells out precision CNC machining, design and prototyping in Surrey BC for search.
This page precedes a full redesign we prepared to replace the shop's older table-based site. That design sorts portfolio photos into Machining, Welding & Fabrication, and Design & Manufacturing, combines its light and dark versions in one file with a toggle, and includes a contact form that sends a branded HTML email.
