Website Design Concept

Fraser Valley Stump Grinding

For a family-run stump grinder in Chilliwack, a concept that makes the case for grinding below grade before it asks for the job.

This is a design concept: a website we designed as a proposal for Fraser Valley Stump Grinding. It was not commissioned, and West Coast Media Solutions is not affiliated with Fraser Valley Stump Grinding.

At a Glance

Fraser Valley Stump Grinding is a family-owned business working out of Chilliwack across the Fraser Valley. Our concept argues before it sells: an early section explains why a flush cut leaves a problem, with a simple cross-section showing the grind line below grade. Three services, the reasons to hire a local crew, a four-step process, the service area, an FAQ and a short quote form complete the eight sections.

The Brief

A stump sawn level with the ground looks tidy for a week, then turns into a rotting hump that resprouts and catches mower blades. The page needed to explain that problem simply and present grinding below grade as the fix.

  • Explain why grinding below grade beats a flush cut before asking anyone for their details.
  • Show the depth promise, four to eight inches below grade, as a picture rather than a paragraph.
  • Present three services, with stump grinding as the core and the other two as natural add-ons.
  • Answer common questions on the page itself, so a quote request comes from someone already convinced.

What We Designed

That stump is coming out, and down: the headline turns the job into a promise. Below the free quote button and phone number, a set of quick specs gives the grind depth, the coverage from Chilliwack to Hope, the working hours and the one-visit finish. The next section carries the main graphic device, a simple cross-section with a zero line for grade and a grind line beneath it, showing the stump and upper root flare taken well under the surface.

The type pairs Bricolage Grotesque headings with Hanken Grotesk text and adds Space Mono, a monospaced face, for the precise tone of a job sheet. The palette borrows from the work itself: a sawdust tan background, dark walnut type and a rust orange for the quote buttons. The voice is plain and a little wry, as in the process heading that runs from “ugh, that stump” to done in four steps.

Below-grade diagram

A cross-section marks the grade line and the grind line beneath it, showing the depth the business works to.

Three linked services

Stump grinding is the core service, with small tree removal and chip and debris removal offered as options on the same visit.

Expandable FAQ

Common questions sit in expandable panels under Stump grinding, answered, keeping the page short until someone wants the detail.

Short quote form

Name, phone, email, the property address and a description of the stump, with spam protection built in.

How We Achieved It

The page is ordered the way a cautious homeowner thinks. Why grind at all comes first, then what the business does, why a local family crew, how a job runs, whether the area is covered and what people usually ask. By the time the quote form appears under Tell us about the stump, most of the obvious objections have been answered.

A rust-coloured Free quote button and the phone number sit at the end of the navigation, and the same pair appears under the headline. The form keeps to a free-text description of the stump instead of a service list, which suits a business built around one core job, and it is protected against spam. The page title names Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Langley, giving the concept a local search footing from the start.
