Website Design Concept
Mandau Plumbing
Three homepage concepts for a Greater Vancouver plumber share every word, so the only thing that changes from one to the next is the design.
This is a design concept: a website we designed as a proposal for Mandau Plumbing. It was not commissioned, and West Coast Media Solutions is not affiliated with Mandau Plumbing.
At a Glance
Since 2010, Mandau Plumbing has served homes and businesses across Greater Vancouver. We designed three homepage concepts with identical copy, each in its own design direction: Industrial Premium, Modern Editorial and Technical Blueprint. The first, shown here, pairs navy and copper with serif headlines and a card layout, moving through six services, four reasons to choose the company, a four-step process and a free quote form. A summary page presents all three as live previews.

The Brief
Design direction is easiest to judge when nothing else moves. We wrote one set of copy for Mandau Plumbing and built three very different homepages around it.
- Keep the words identical across all three homepages, so each could be compared on design alone.
- Lead with round-the-clock emergency service and a free quote, the first things a homeowner with a leak looks for.
- Cover residential and commercial work in six services, from water heaters to plumbing for new construction.
- Explain the job in four plain steps, from the first call to a final walkthrough.
What We Designed
Concept 1, Industrial Premium, sets deep navy and copper against a warm off-white page. Headlines use DM Serif Display, which gives a practical trade a measured, established voice, and Outfit keeps the body text clean. The opening screen flags emergency availability above Expert Plumbing You Can Trust, with a free quote button and the phone number beneath, then a row of trust figures. Six service cards follow, then four numbered reasons to choose the company.
The other two directions keep every word and change everything else. Concept 2, Modern Editorial, moves to bone, petrol teal and lime, with grotesque and mono type, an interactive service list and a marquee. Concept 3, Technical Blueprint, lays blueprint blue, amber and aqua over a drafting grid, animates a piping schematic, draws the process like a piping and instrumentation diagram and finishes with a footer styled as a drawing's title block.
Same copy, three looks
Industrial Premium, Modern Editorial and Technical Blueprint share identical words, so any difference comes from layout, type and colour.
Tagged service cards
Six cards, from emergency repairs to drain cleaning, each carry an icon and a short tag such as Residential, Commercial or Maintenance.
Four plain steps
Call or book, a free assessment, the repair and a final walkthrough, set out under Simple, Transparent Process.
Framed live previews
A summary page presents all three concepts as clickable, framed live previews, with poster images as a fallback.
How We Achieved It
Each direction is a single, self-contained HTML file, which keeps the three independent and simple to open side by side. Because the copy never changes, a reader comparing them sees only the design decisions: layout, type, colour and motion. That frames the decision as a choice between three characters for the same company: polished and established, editorial and modern, or technical and engineered.
In Concept 1, the navigation runs to services, why us, process, reviews and contact, with Call Now at the end for urgent jobs. A short closing band for plumbing problems hands over to Let's Fix It Right, where the quote form asks for first and last name, email, phone, the service needed and a message. The footer repeats the services and describes the company as licensed and insured, serving Greater Vancouver since 2010.
