Contrast

Size

Body text on a small business site is frequently smaller than it should be.

The choices that make text harder

Dark backgrounds

Worth a note because it is a common design choice.

Light text on a dark background can meet contrast requirements and still be tiring to read at length, and pure white on pure black is the harshest version.

Where a dark section is used, softening both ends, so the text is slightly off-white and the background slightly off-black, is easier to read while looking the same.

Long-form content is generally better on a light background, with dark sections used for shorter blocks.
